For my old layout, I had purchased a trein crossing with a well-known brand and a built-in drive. However, I did not enjoy it for long because some grains had fallen into the drive from above, resulting in a burned-out coil. After that, I drove the level crossing with memory wire. After dismantling the old layout and building a new one, I planned to use servos for the drive. However, the level crossing was so fragile that this quickly proved to be impossible.
For reasons of durability and cost, I started looking for a self-build option. I had found a website on the internet where someone had made a design drawing that was free to download. I did this right away. It was only months later that I got around to building it. Now that it's finished and I'm putting the result on this site, I actually want to credit the source and give him the credit. However, I cannot find it again. Perhaps someone can still point it out to me. If anyone is interested, I can email this drawing. You can find my email address under the contact heading.

In the first photo you can see the sawed and drilled parts. These are made from a 4x4mm brass U-profile, available at Conrad, a 2mm brass tube, and some 1 x 12mm round head nails, both available at Hornbach.
Furthermore, you will need 1mm spring steel to drive the barrier with a servo and of course some paint.
In the photo, the parts are soldered together, sanded, and primed with an airbrush.
